CUSeeMe Nicknames (with comments) List Version 30

Whew!

It's been a couple of months since I've last posted my CU-SeeMe reflector
list, but it's been a busy couple of months :-)

As usual, the text of the current list is in the body of the message *and*
attached as a binHex file. It's also at my web site (see below). Windows
users will have to follow the directions below to use this file.

This task is getting more difficult each month, resulting in the following
pleas for reflector operaters:

PLEA #1 - Please create an alias for the reflector operator at your site.
Keeping in the spirit of "postmaster" and "webmaster", please call it
"refmaster". That way, refmaster@your-site will be an unwavering way of
getting help.

PLEA #2 - Please keep your Message-of-the-day banner up to date, and if you
don't have one, create one! Include, at a minimum, refmaster@your-site.

Thanks.

I'm sure there are sites I've missed, and for that I apologize. Several of
the sites here have only minimal contact information. If you know who the
refmaster is, please let me know so I can get more information about the
reflector (such as usage guidelines). If you know about other reflectors,
please let me know as well.

I've been considering adding audio-only reflectors, but they keep on
moving. If you're the refmaster of a stable audio-only reflector, please
contact me.

Michael

# WHAT: This is a non-authoritative listing of available reflectors.
# I have no connection with the CU-SeeMe project. Wherever possible
# the information presented is from the reflector administrator (the
# "okay" line shows when the information was updated and by whose
# authority).
#
# Other than being sent to the cu-seeme-l mailing list (see below)
# from time to time, when I've made several changes, this file is
# available from
#
# http://www.jungle.com/msattler/sci-tech/comp/CU-SeeMe/CUSeeMe_Nicknames.txt
#
# I sometimes get complaints that the URL supplied above doesn't
# yield a usable file. Using Macintosh Netscape 1.1b1, when I use
# this URL the list is displayed in the browser window. When I
# "View Source" it pulls up my favorite text editor with a valid file.
# When I "Save As" it creates a file with the tabs converted to spaces
# (an invalid file). You'll have to experiment with your web browser.
#
# Please send additions, corrections, deletions, and comments to
# Michael Sattler <msattler@jungle.com>. Stephen Stiner, my proof-
# reader extraordinaire does, frequently :-)

#-------------------------------------------------------------------
# HOW TO USE THIS FILE:
#
# (Macintosh)
#
# Make two copies. Move a COPY into your Preferences folder (in
# the System folder) and rename it "CUSeeMe Nicknames" (without
# the quotes).
#
# This file has tabs that are used by CU-SeeMe to delimit fields.
# Make sure that you haven't converted tabs to spaces by accident
# (some mail-readers to this automatically).
#
# The last two fields control the default sending and receiving of
# video. In this file I have them set both on, "s r", but if you
# want to turn either or both of these off by default, replace the
# appropriate letter with an 'n'.
#
# When CU-SeeMe reads this file all comments will be stripped out
# (which is why you need a copy); the developers have said they'll
# work on this for the next major overhaul (no time soon).
#
# (Windows)
#
# You'll have to edit your CUSEEME.INI file and add the textual
# hostnames (or the IP address if you really don't like being able
# to tell one reflector from another) to the "MRU List" section.
# Be mindful of the numbering; avoid duplicates. An example:
# [MRU List]
# Target1=pro60-test2.cit.cornell.edu
# Target2=nysernet.org
# Target3=fenris.dhhalden.no
# Target4=sunten.wiezmann.ac.il
