ok, I lied,

IF YOU DO NOT, OFF THE TOP OF YOUR HEAD, KNOW THAT SENDING A MESSAGE
TO CU-SEEME-L@cornell.edu ASKING THE LIST USERS TO REMOVE YOU FROM THE LIST
WILL NOT DO YOU ANY GOOD, PLEASE READ ON TO THE NEXT PAGE.

the rest of you may return to your regularly scheduled program

people should have recieved about 4 dozen copies of this by now.
here's one more. I tried to make this get through filters and apologize
to those with filters that know how to get off this list, but many
people seem to be ignoring these messages for one reason or another,
so, without further ado.

before sending a message here to try to get off this list, try following
a few SIMPLE directions.

Dear user,

your request

SU***RIBE CU-SEEME-L your name

has been successfully processed.

Welcome to list CU-SEEME-L (CU-SEEME-L@cornell.edu). The system has recorded
your address as

yourname@your.domain

and it is required that you send your postings from that address, unless the
list does not require su***ription for posting.

The list's owners are lmh2@cornell.edu .

You should contact them if there are any problems.

Please do not send requests to this list; instead direct them to:

listproc@cornell.edu

The system has assigned you an initial password: ********
You may change it by sending the following request to listproc@cornell.edu:

set CU-SEEME-L password ********* <new-password>

WARNING: You should NOT use your login password as this is not a secure
mechanism.

This password is to be used when when you wish to change the address you
are su****ibed with.
In this case, issue the following request to listproc@cornell.edu:

set CU-SEEME-L address ******** <new-address>

To get more information on how to use this service, please send the command
HELP in a line by itself in a mail message to listproc@cornell.edu.

To signoff from the list, email to listproc@cornell.edu with the
following request:

signoff CU-SEEME-L
or
unsu***ribe CU-SEEME-L

You have been added to the CU-SeeMe-L mailing list, whose purpose
is an unrestricted discussion of the CU-SeeMe packet video software
under development by the Cornell CU-SeeMe project and its colloborators.
Mail sent to:

CU-SEEME-L@cornell.edu

will be redistributed to all list members. The developers and project
management all read the list. Please be sure to send to this address ONLY
when you want your message redistributed. As this list goes to over 500 people
(July 1, 1994), please note that bugs should be reported to
<cu-seeme-bugs@cornell.edu>.

Before you send requests for more info, please ftp to gated.cornell.edu, cd
to pub/video, download any FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) files and read,
and
cd to the appropriate Mac or PC directory, and download the latest file with
README in its name. You can also get the software from this server.

Also, as this list can have quite a bit of traffic, consider u***bing (see
below)
and su****ibing instead to CU-SEEME-ANNOUNCE-L which will have only
announcments from the developers and a modest ammount of other
information. Everything that goes to ANNOUNCE will go to this general
list also; don't subscribe to both! To change to the announce list,
send the following message body:

u***b cu-seeme-L (*** = nsu)
su***ribe cu-seeme-announce-L <first-name> <last-name> (*** = bsc)

to: LISTSERV@cornell.edu
(from the SAME address you used to su***ribe to cu-seeme-L.) (*** = bsc)

---------------

This is an automated list; you may perform various list operations (such
as un-su***ribing, reviewing list membership, and changing your
distribution options) by typing commands into an e-mail message and
sending that message to

listserv@cornell.edu

Please note the difference between the address for list commands and the
address for message redistribution. Again:

To send commands about the list, send to: LISTSERV@cornell.edu
To post messages on the list, send to: CU-SEEME-L@cornell.edu.

Users may choose from among certain options regarding how listserv
will interact with them. To change these options, you must send a
command in electronic mail to LISTSERV@cornell.edu (once again, NOT to
CU-SEEME-L@cornell.edu), saying:

SET CU-SEEME-L MAIL option

where 'option' can be one of:
NOACK -- Do not send me my own postings back
ACK -- Send me my own postings back
DIGEST -- Send me a periodic digest of postings
or POSTPONE -- Do not send me *anything* until I change back to
one of the other three.

For example: SET CU-SEEME-L MAIL DIGEST would cause you to start
getting digests. Note that the word "MAIL" is required.

The default for all lists is NOACK.

To leave the list at any time, send the command
U***B CU-SEEME-L (*** = NSU)

to listserv@cornell.edu. (DON'T send it to the list itself!)

If you have any questions about Cu-SeeMe-L, contact Dick Cogger,
the list owner, at <r.cogger@cornell.edu>.

If you have any questions about this listserv, contact the listserv
manager, at listmgr@cornell.edu
