As far as I know when connected to the internet through compuserve you act as
the IP address of the compuserve unix host, and compuserve distributes
messages based on the unix socket number assigned.

I have never had any trouble accessing through ftp or directly CU-seeme with
compuserve. You dont even have to use the compuserve utilities - a ws-ftp
using compuserves modified winsock library will work.
