I just got a message from our provider that says that U.S. Robotics X2
users should be able to get faster connections in a short while over
Rockwell Flex 56 connections:
"If you do get an x2 modem, you need only wait for
4-5 months for the ITU which is the International Telecommunications
Union to settle on a single standard. This WILL happen and the
software upgrades are simple and free."
("Timothy J. Murray"<tmurray@vbe.com>, Valley Business Equipment, Aug.

BTW, nobody will get true 56K speed no matter what modem you use. The
fastest you can expect should be around 4.2K. You should see an
improvement in CU performance nonetheless.
