You don't need a server to run SLIP. SLIP is simply a framing around
sending raw IP packets over the phone line. Just have the Mac talk to
each other directly, and go at it.

You can bypass all the login stuff that you would do when talking to
a server, because that is not really part of SLIP, it is part of user
identification.
