YIPES, did I speak too soon! Thought everything was going to work fine as
long as I stopped sending and receiving video. After only a few tries at
transmitting sound, crashed again. So I took Alvena's advice and increased
the memory allocation for CU-SeeMe to 7000K, min 5500K. No improvement.

Whether I use PTT or Transmitting mode with echo reduction, it crashes.
Using A-mod compression, immediately crashes. Using Intel compression, it
also crashes, albeit after a few successful attempts. I do not have this
same problem with the Powerbook.

Now I am beginning to wonder whether it is a hardware problem/limitation
with my CPU, afterall. All other features of CU-SeeMe are working
beautifully--but the audio is important to me. So I'm back to square one.
If it's a bandwidth problem, will a higher-speed modem help? Any other
ideas?--Das Chan

P.S. Configuration as follows:
CU-SeeMe 0.87b3 (using default settings) running on:

PPC 7200/90
RAM 96Mb (Virtual Memory off, Disk cache 768K--No Ram Doubler, No Speed
Doubler)
MacOS 8.0
Open Transport 1.2
TCP/IP
MacPPP 2.5
Global Village Teleport Platinum 28.8
Apple PlainTalk mic
Connectix Color QuickCam (connected to printer port--my modem port is
occupied by modem)
