You might also try opening the door of your camcorder; that keeps most
models from shutting off after 5 minutes.

While it was not cheap, I'd like to put in a word for my 8mm Canon UC15.
I've added a wide angle adapter lens and bought a fat battery as extras.
That way I can actually use it to record video or "take pictures" - an
easy and _cheap_ way of getting images onto my webserver. The camera has
one very important function. It does _NOT_ automatically turn itself off
after 5 minutes when it does not have tape loaded.
