Win95 CUSM audio send lock

Environment: I am trying to connect to a user with a P100 Compaq computer
running Windoze95 and CUSM (Cornell version). I am running the same
program on a Dell P133 at work and the Mac version on a PowerMac 6115 at
home. We are using the 16k deta-mod codex.

Problem: Their talk status seems stuck on send no matter what the audio
settings. We have successfully toggled the "push to talk" button, switched
to mute, disconnected the microphone, turned the PIT on and off, ditto hear
lurkers. Their machine stays on send mode, and either they have a single
duplex sound card or the program cannot recognize a full duplex. When I
send sound we get the single duplex error message. Their sound gets sent
fine. I cannot recreate this problem on my machine.

Anyone had (and solved) this problem?
Please reply directly, I will post the answer.

Thanks,

Paul
