To all those who answered "the newbie" question

Thank you all, and I finally figured it out. At first I didn't realize
that Cu-SeeMe (from Cornell) not only doesn't transmit color but doesn't
recognize it. I accidently stumbled onto the fact that if I set the
picture depth in the quick pict application to a gray setting and then quit
the program it would work.

In short, setting the screen depth in the quick pict program (at least if
you have the gray scale drivers installed) lets Cu-SeeMe recognize and use
the camera.

Again, thanks for the help,
