White Pine 2.0.X reflectors with 3.X clients

In surfing the ref some, I ran across http://www.bomb.cc/buglist/ which
mentions something interest that does seem to work on 3.1.1.016:
"Guess what... we found a cure for this.. set your contact card for multi
cast on.. then when you enter the ref.. hit ALT-J..this will make a
packet header with a multicast request.. and will let you join the
conference. This was discovered by Lester, and I verified the fact that it
is really a fuctional key stroke. It works!"

I testing it out with a White Pine 2.0.1 reflector, it seems to work quite
nicely as a means to get the WP 3.X client to connect with older 2.0
reflectors (at least to ID 0 anyway). In playing with it, I also noticed
I didn't have to mess with contact cards at all or have multicast enabled.
So I'm not sure what ALT-J does, but it does seem to work on the
connection screen. Whenever it says "XXX contacted...", hit ALT-J and
POOF..it allows you in.

It makes me wonder what it's really doing...and what other nifty
undocumented keystrokes exist in the White Pine versions. The other one
that someone told me about is with other 3.X clients private chat with
"#wakeup" which rings a bells on other 3.X clients.
