Dee,

By port are you referring to the printer port vs. the modem port? In
Quickcam, it's under "settings" > "Color quickcam" > Modem/printer. When I
originally installed my quickcam software, it tried to use the modem port by
default. I think it was a bug in the older software. I had to trash the old
software including the ~color quickcam and VIDEC extensions in the system
folder. Restart, reinstall the old software, the updated software, and
restart again. Then the 1st time you launch quickcam, you can select the
correct port, and it will be saved as its preference.

I'm afraid I can't tell you how to change the port in CU, since I can't
launch the program again. I'm not sure how CU finds its "video source", but
it found mine without a problem. That is, when the program was working. I'm
sure someone else on the list can help here, so I'll forward it on.

If the problem is only with CU, (you said quickpict works) you should only
have to reinstall CU, which won't take long. I'm certain you don't have to
reinstall all your software.

change the port CU was set at on installation? I can't bear to go thru
all those upgrades from my original software again. They were hard to
do. All I lack is a picture in my local video window and the rest of CU
seems stable. Quickpict works. I want to try the other port to see If
that gives me my picture. Of course any other ideas of how to get a
picture would be greatly appreciated. I feel we are almost there. OS
7.6, CU87b1, new Free PPP.....
