I just got a Performa 600.
The 'sound alerts' (quacking, beeping, etc.) in Sound control work fine,
UNTIL I run QuickCam.
Then they don't; or rather I can hear them VERY faintly IF I use my
earphones.
The same holds true with anything I record using QuickCam, whether using
the builtin mike or the QuickCam mike. The monitored sound is great,
while I'm recording, even the delayed sound I get when using the QuickCam
mike.
But when I go to *playback*, it's really crappy---the next thing to
inaudible.
Even if I then shut *down* QuickCam, the Mac sounds (beeping etc.) *still*
won't work until I reboot!
I have all volume controls set to max.
Needless to say, I can't hope to do CU-SeeMe audio in this situation.
