Cornell problems May 12th?

I just subscribed to this list so pardon if I mention old news...My local
(Portland OR) provider (Teleport) had a problem with the Cornell site
Friday, May 12th. Seems though there was too much data for their routers to
handle and it screwed things up a bit. I was using CU (receive only,no
sound) at the time.

Anyone else have problems on this date or was it me or my provider?

I have used CuSeeME maybe a dozen times with no problem. I've got a
Connectix (golfball) camera hooked to my Mac but I haven't taken the time
to understand more than basic functions. Am using a 68030 33Mhz Powerbook
Here are Joey's (complete) notes:

what were you doing? you had a whole lot of udp traffic coming from a site
at cornell to your machine. whatever it was, it was causing all kinds
of trouble for one of our routers. please don't do it again.

the problem is that there is no higher level flow control on the data
stream, so it was sending huge amounts of data to us, most of which we
were dumping on the floor since only so much will fit through a modem
connection. i'm not sure why dropping the data was causing a huge load,
but it certainly was. you might want to see if the server you connect to
has any kind of options to control data pacing.

Those were the notes I got from my provider. I've been avoiding CU ever
since. Could I have done something on my setup to screw THEM up???

Any comments welcome!
