Computer Microphone information needed

I'm planning to start using CU-SeeMe as soon as I can get the
appropriate camera and video capture card for my PC. In the
meantime, however, I'm trying to find a good microphone that I
can use with my PC for simultaneous audio conversations using
either Internet Voice Chat or VocalChat as well as some future
version of CU-SeeMe that supports audio on PCs. The following
is a message I posted a few months ago on comp.multimedia,
which did not generate any replies:

I'm looking for recommendations for a good computer microphone for
voice recording, voice activation, and voice conferencing applications. I
will be using these microphones with SoundBlaster Deluxe and Gateway 2000
sound cards. I've tried several non-amplified audio microphones, but they
require that the microphone be held close to your mouth and even then the
volume level is rather low. Ideally, I'd like something I could put on the
keyboard or on the desk, to use it hands-free as well as for use by a group
of people. The best one I've found so far is a microphone that Sun
Microsystems includes with their latest workstations. It's a very small
(less than 1" square) flat microphone that sits just fine on a keyboard or
desk and is amplified by a watch battery. The sound quality is exactly
what I want, unfortunately if you forget to turn it off when you're not
using it (which is easy to do), the battery runs out very quickly. I'd
like to find something equivalent that would run off a power adapter that
could be left on even when it's not being used.

If you have any recommendations, please let me know.

Cheers.... Randall Severy
