In general, I would oppose switching to a newsgroup. I've participated in
two mailing lists that did so and found it, for me, to be unsatisfactory.

When you're on a mailing list the messages come to you daily and directly
and you may read them or not, as you please. If you must affirmatively seek
out a newsgroup then, I find it doesn't get done because there always seems
to be something that needs to be done first. As a result, you lose touch
with the purpose of the mailing list and don't keep up with events.

Admittedly, there is a lot of beginners' stuff, but that is the purpose of
the List. Honestly, how many of you read comp.sys.mac.comm everyday, or
even once a week?

I would vote against the idea unless the List would be continued on
parallel track.
