Typing into a window?

I heard mention that one can type directly into a window in leau of
sending voice. I can't figure out how to do this and I haven't been able
to find a FAQ for CU-SeeMe (for the Mac version 0.80b3).

Thanks for any pointers, and are there any other goodies like this that I
should know about?
