I am very far away from the place I started. I am moving as I speak
now. I am removed from the present moment. As far as I can tell, I am
speaking to you tonight from the future. As far as I can tell, I am dead
already and sending information which may be entertaining now but, soon
will become fixed and hackneyed.

The dead crawl backwards and forwards. The "have been" and "yet to be"
work in careful method and synchronous union. In short, what is old can be
new again, culled carefully from the current with slight modifications in
surface design. Those who live do so in a painful and agitated state of
consumption.

I would like to tell you I live in New York, only I have already stated
I am dead and New York does not exist anyway. It does not exist because
New York is always of the moment. New York is not concerned with the
spiritual
transcendence of nostalgic recollection nor the ritual values of dreamy,
future premonitions. New York looks forward only to conceive of a lechery
of the moment, it looks backward only to substantiate a lechery of the
moment. New York is the ultimate capitalist paradigm.

I would like to tell you there are beautiful moments. I like to think
of these moments as bombs hidden in baby carriages on the trainride home
from work. These bombs erupt spontaneously and for a moment everything
is different. Everything glows with the promise and regret of the event.
Events are transmissions sent from the future which transcend language and
overwhelm with presence. These transmissions suggest: You are not trapped
here. You have mobility, strength through movement. You can go astray,
wayward and unpredictably into forms not yet established as economically
viable....
