Connectix QuickCam gamma arrived today

A few minutes ago I recieved a Connectix QuickCam as part of the "gamma"
testing process. I'm guessing that the CU-SeeMe team recieved theirs today
as well.

It looks just like the advert shows, but in 3D it seems even smaller. The
camera sits on a rubberized base; both parts are a very light grey (which
may match the deskbound Macs, it's certainly not the color of my
PowerBook).

Setting it up is incredibly easy, an heir to what makes Macs great. Plug
the camera into a serial port, install some apps (that deal with still and
video aspects of a camera) and three INITs (sound, video, and Apple's fixes
to QT 2.0), reboot, and you're running!

CU-SeeMe 0.70b12 comes up but local video option is dimmed. If the
CU-SeeMe team releases even a primitive, cobbled-together alpha of a
QuickCam-aware I'll try it (and report to the list what I'm allowed to (if
there's a non-disclosure)).

Closer and closer... :-) M
