SPBOpenDeviceFailed error on 660AV

Still looking for the meaning of

> SPBOpenDeviceFailed
> err=-227

before the application crashes.

Some suggest that it ahs to do with audio and/or Express Modem on AV macs,
but I haven't been able to pin it down. Any other ideas?
