Folks,
New betas of CU-SeeMe for the PowerMac and 68000 Macs are now
available for anonymous ftp:

Server: gated.cornell.edu
Directory: /pub/video/CU-SeeMe0.70b8
Files: CU-SeeMePPc0.70b8.bin
CU-SeeMe68k0.70b8.bin
CU-SeeMe0.70.README.8-29.txt

These are purely bug-fix versions. There are no user-visible
changes and no changes to any protocol messages or datastreams. Bugs have
been fixed in the area of handling audio sound channels and interrupt-level
queue processing. These versions are much more stable than the previous b1-b5
versions.

However, these are still *Beta* versions. In particular, we know
of one (or more than one) bug that shows up as "push to crash" when
clicking in the Audio window on the "Push to Talk" check box. It seems to
be related to having (or not having) a preferences file-- if you get the
Your Name dialog and havn't created a preferences file, or in some cases,
it looks like the preferences file may become corrupted and need to be
thrown out to start over. This bug seems to show up when QuickTime is not
installed (because, for example, there is no digitizer) so a possible
workaround is to install QuickTime even though you're not supposed to need
it.

We would be especially interested to hear from anyone who finds
different behavior with these versions, compared to previous versions.
Please note model/configuration, etc. Thanks.

Cheers, -Dick
