..has anyone successful first-hand experience with software which allows a
pc to read/write (and format?) a 3.5" floppy disk for a mac?

..how about such which allows a mac to read/write (and format?) an ibm
compatible 3.5" disk?

..does the commercial program "Mac-in-Dos/Windows" work ok?

---> In mac there are a couple of program for this, one is the DOS-MOUNTER and the other is the apple exchange. In adition, you can use theses programs in combination with others like the aldus photo shop to interchange formats of pictures from mac to ibm or viceversa
