Position Announcement

Position: Tenure-track; rank and salary commensurate with qualifications. Appointment of the successful applicant will be made fully by the Program in Women's Studies or, where opportunities for collaboration with other academic units arise, jointly with a department of the College of Arts and Sciences.

Qualifications: Applicant must hold a Ph.D. Research, teaching, and/or academic credentials in Women's Studies preferred. Specialization open.

Responsibilities: The Director plays an important leadership role in coordinating an interdisciplinary program of Women's Studies. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to develop an evolving program. Responsibilities include administrative leadership, curriculum coordination and development, campus and community programming, advisement, and teaching. Experience in service learning and/or extramural grant writing is highly desirable. The Director should be prepared to teach Introduction to Women's Studies, Feminist Theories, Research Methods in Women's Studies, and approved Women's Studies electives.

The Program: The Women's Studies Program has been in place for more than 20 years and enjoys the support of 19 affiliated faculty and 10 cooperating departments. It attracts strong enrollments in affiliated courses and a group of interested and involved undergraduate minors. A graduate certification program has just been approved, and there are possibilities for developing an undergraduate major.

The University: Indiana State University is a comprehensive state-assisted institution enrolling approximately 11,000 undergraduate and graduate students, and offering degree programs at the associate, baccalaureate, master's, and doctoral levels. ISU is actively engaged in sponsored research and public service and provides extensive cultural programming for west-central Indiana and east-central Illinois.
