This web site contains information on how to use the cartographic development software from this company in classrooms for kindergarten through twelfth grade students. Geograhpic Information Systems is a method in which maps may be developed via layering of data or information. For example, a simplified, two-dimensional map of your school’s neighborhood may be enhanced to reflect topography, sanitation lines, power lines, vegetation, traffic patterns, and much more. ESRI is one of the only GIS-producing companies that tailor packages for classroom applications in conjunction with business applications. One of the well-known national Geography Teacher Consultants, Charlie Fitzpatrick, now consults for ESRI in terms of classroom needs.
