CD
Features: Teacher Utilities
Prompt
The
teacher or student is prompted to type in their name. You need to let the
computer know if you are a student or a teacher by clicking on the Teacher
or
Student
button. When Teacher is selected, you are prompted to enter an access
code. This code is needed whenever the teacher wants to check student progress
or change the level of instruction.
Teacher
login
Once
the teacher has logged on correctly, he or she is given access to the student
data bases and curriculum section of the software. Here you can check
student progress or set the curriculum length.
Individual
database
In
this screen the information can be retrieved by either
the
student's full name, their username, or the student's password. Scores
are kept for individual section of the CD and also scores for each activity.
One unique item
that
is found on the database is the elapsed time for each item. By examining
the elapsed time, the teacher can see the length of time the individual
student spent on each task. The final score for each student is also calculated.
Group
database
Here
you have access to a database containing information for all the students
who have logged onto each individual computer. Here you see their
Name, Username, Password, and all scores on each quiz and activity.
Along with their average score.
Curriculum
Here,
the teacher has the choice of selecting a 12 class hour, 8 class hour,
or 4 class hour presentation. These are of course relative times
and many students will finish in less time than was suggested.
The 12, 8, and 4 hour selections are sequential programs and the students
will need to follow a pre set path through the program. However, the teacher
can select the free form format in which there is no pre set
path. It should be noted, however, that this free form format is designed
for the teacher to explore the software freely, and should not be use by
the students. In the free form format, all record keeping is disabled
and student progress is not tracked. |
