William H. Moates was born and raised in Enterprise, Alabama. He received his B.S. degree in Math and Physics from Birmingham-Southern College in 1968. He then pursued graduate studies at the University of Alabama, receiving an M.A. in Business Statistics in 1971, an M.B.A. in 1973, and a Ph.D. in Management Science/Operations Management in 1981. He attended the MIS Faculty Development Institute at the University of Minnesota in 1986 and the Advanced MIS Faculty Development Institute at Indiana University in 1988. He taught at Marshall University and James Madison University before coming to Indiana State University in 1987. He currently holds the position of Associate Professor of MIS and has taught courses in introductory business computing, systems analysis and design, operations management, statistics, and the MBA core course in management information systems.
Dr. Moates has published in the JOURNAL OF SMALL BUSINESS MANAGEMENT, THE INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF OPERATIONS AND PRODUCTION MANAGEMENT, IEEE TRANSACTIONS ON PROFESSIONAL COMMUNICATIONS, JOURNAL OF INFORMATION SYSTEM MANAGEMENT, JOURNAL OF SYSTEMS MANAGEMENT, INTERFACE, and THE ACCOUNTING SYSTEMS JOURNAL. He has presented numerous papers at professional meetings. He is a member of the Decision Sciences Institute (DSI) and has served on the Board of Directors of the Central Illiana Chapter of APICS and as a member of the Indiana State University Faculty Senate. He is active in the ISU Christian Faculty/Staff Fellowship.
