Whereas:
The Indiana State University Student Senate is an integral part of
the
governance of the ISU Student Community.
Whereas:
The ISU Student Senate is not routinely filled to its maximum
capacity
therefore not an accurate representation of the student population.
Whereas:
The Student Government Association wishes to increase the ability
for
students to become active in the Student Senate.
Whereas:
The Student Government Association wants to Reorganization the
Student
Senate along lines of Academic Schools so that more proportional
representation
is gained and so that more students may get involved in the Student Senate
who
previously were restricted from participation.
THEREFORE
BE IT:
Enacted:
Article VI, Section 2; Be Amended to Read:
“The Student Senate shall be composed of Senators with voting
powers
from each Academic Schools expect Graduate Studies and including Student
Academic Services, Residency at-large, Greek Housing, and speaking seats
which
shall not have voting power.
Enacted:
Article VI, Section 7; Be Amended to Read:
“Senators must be enrolled in the school they represent.
Residency-at-large Senators must live in the area they
represent.
The Greek Housing Senator must live in a Fraternity/Sorority
House.”

Article VIII, Section 6; Be Amended to Read:
“The number of Senators elected shall be:

A
number
of students from each Academic School except Graduate Studies and
including
Student Academic Services.
This
number shall be determined by the following formula:
“At the beginning of each spring semester,
based on
the total population of each school/college from the spring 10-day report,
the
election commission will determine the number of senators for each
school/college based on a 1:250 ratio.”
