Dr. David P. Beach, DirectorTechnology Services Center
PURPOSE
The center was created to stimulate and facilitate interaction among the School of Technology and industry, government, and other businesses. It serves as a gateway for persons outside the University to access School of Technology expertise and facilities. The center's mission also includes activities that support faculty and student work on industrial projects, research projects, and other activities.
OBJECTIVES
The primary objective of the center is to improve the quality of education offered by the School of Technology. Through work on industrial projects, faculty development is enhanced and students are afforded work-related opportunities. In addition, the school's ability to attract and retain high quality faculty is improved.
Additionally, the activities of the center are intended to facilitate technology transfer between the school and the private sector. Expertise in the various specialty areas of the school has been effectively used to improve the competitiveness of companies working with the center. Ideally, these technology transfer activities benefit all parties involved. Areas of faculty expertise are listed on the back of this brochure. Other objectives of the center include maintaining a point of contact for federal, state, and local governmental agencies, providing fax and special computer services, proposal preparation assistance, and tours through the School of Technology.
Typical activities include:
- working with regional industrial base to build awareness of the expertise within the school and to develop potential projects;
- assisting faculty members with project development including work on outlines, proposals, contracts, letters of agreement, non-disclosure statements, and other activities;
- helping with the management of projects from start-up to completion;
- performing administrative tasks for projects activities;
- representing the school through a variety of committee memberships and other activities; and
- supporting the technology transfer mission through a variety of other tasks.
If you need with a project or idea, the School of Technology may be able to assist you. Please contact:
