PSI ENERGY
PSI Energy is an investor-owned electric utility serving the electric needs of more than 625,000 customers in central and southern Indiana. Our 22,000 square mile service territory, which includes about two-thirds of the geographic area of the State of Indiana, contains a widely diversified industrial, commercial and agricultural economy in a largely rural area. We're the largest electric company in Indiana and our 4,000 employees are dedicated to serve the needs of our customers. PSI is also one of the operating companies of CINergy Corp., the 14th largest investor-owned utility company in the nation in terms of generating capacity. This Cincinnati-based corporation, which is one of the country's newest holding companies, serves about 1.3 million electric customers and 420,000 gas customers in a 25,000 square-mile area in Ohio, Indiana and Kentucky.
A major part of the PSI Energy advantage is our Partners in Development Team. The "Partners" make up the economic development arm of PSI Energy. We're one of the most active private enterprises promoting business activity in Indiana. We work closely with economic development officials throughout our service area on local, regional and state levels.
Our rates are considerably below the national average. A recent study of investor-owned utilities in the United States found that industrial customers of PSI Energy paid the eighth lowest rate for electricity and PSI's commercial customers paid the second lowest rates in the nation.
With our market access rates, PSI gives you the option to buy firm and non-firm power either from us or from the market. Your purchases are based on differing levels of priority service. You decide the level of risk you are willing to take based on the internal trade-off between price and the value of electricity. Non-firm power purchases, which we will negotiate with you, will be available to customers with at least two megawatts of total electric load at a specific service locations.
PSI Energy also offers off-peak pricing for industrial customers who can shift their peak loads to nights and Sundays. By operating off peak, customers can further reduce their electric costs. Plus, it allows a more practical and sensible use of a valuable resource.
PSI Energy also features a comprehensive Demand-Side- Management program called Energy Matters. As one of the most aggressive DSM programs in the industry, Energy Matters is aimed at helping customers improve their energy efficiency and give us the ability to manage the growth in demand for electricity, as well as the supply.
PSI Energy has 2 sources of electric service available at the Vigo County Industrial Park. 12kv service is available on the north side of the park and a 138kv transmission line crosses the south side of the park.
